Shima Shikou: Special issue of SM Spirit (1991) Nekketsu nyotai chokyo ”BEST 20”

Again, a thick photo-book with many outdoor scenes. A special issue of the magazine SMスピリッツ from January 1991. Also many photos of outdoor blowjobs, enema play etc that I have chosen not to include here.

Sanwa Mook No. 66

This is a thick photo-book with many outdoor-scenes, typical for Shima Shikou.

It also contains a number of tutorial pages.

Shima Shikou in スペシャリーS&M,  No. 26 (1982) and No. 29 (1983)

Shima Shikou has been around for a long time on the Japanese S&M scene. I have posted earlier about an issue of Sun & Moon from 1977 that features an article signed Shima Shikou. I have now updated that post with some of the photos. Here is a link:

In this post, I share some photos of a tutorial by Shima Shikou in the magazine Specialist S&M  (スペシャリーS&M ) from 1983. (There is a tutorial also in the issue from 1982, but I found this one the most interesting.)

Erisa Satoh: Tristes Tropiques: Akira Naka’s Blue

bild 1bild 2bild 3Erisa Satoh: 哀しき熱帯 奈加あきらの⾭ [Tristes Tropiques: Akira Naka’s Blue]

This booklet is a rare photographic exploration of kinbaku. Not focussed on the tied up person (although they are visible in some photos), also not focused on the interaction between the person tying and the person being tied (which was often the case in Erisa Satoh’s previous book) – but instead the focus is singularly on the tying person, Naka Akira, in a certain… blue… mood.

A very beautiful project.

See my earlier post on Erisa Satoh’s previous book wih Naka here:

Naka Akira: Shibari to Seme (2017)

Naka Akira: 縛りと責め [Shibari to Seme]

This book is a kind of repackaging of vintage material. It offers stills from sixteen videos that Naka Akira did in collaboration with the director 夢流ZOU, from 2002 to 2008, most of them from the original ”Nawa Etsu”-series (”Rope Joy”), all earlier published by Art Video. In addition to the photo-book, there is included a DVD with two and a half hours of material, cut from eleven of the films. Master ‘K’ once included this series of ”The 10 best Kinbaku films and Videos ever produced” – In my view, there is no doubt that they belong there. In 1996, the magazine SMマニア published a series of articles about Osada Eikichi’s life of SM, illustrated with photos in black and white.

I have made an earlier post about issue No. 10 here:

Publisher: Edo Productions

No ISBN

This rare publication documents the activities of the ”Osada Seminar” from the late 1970s.

32 pages long, it contains photos (both in color and in black & white), a tutorial, and a short text inviting the reader to be a member, describing the activities of the Osada Seminar as regularly doing ”SM theatre”.

Urado Hiroshi (Ed.): ”Es and Em” (えすとえむ) No. 3, 9, 10, 11 (1979)

The magazine ”Es and Em” (えすとえむ) was a magazine edited by Urado Hiroshi, published in the years 1978–1981. It has the subtitle ”A magazine about fulfilling dreams”. Many of the same people involved with ”Sun and Moon”-magazine are contributing also here, such as for example ロマン派生 (Roman Hasei).

In addition to rope-play and other SM play, a recurring thematics in this magazine is ”seppuku”.

I have chosen some images of seppuku for the blog this time.

Urado Hiroshi (Ed.): ”Sun and Moon サン・アンド” No. 3, 5, 6, 10/11 (1978)

In the first images here (from issue 3 and issue 5) rope is by Yamamoto (see further my last blogpost about ”The Beacon”).

Then follows four images with rope by Urado, from issue 6, where the model Mayumi Miyata appears (mentioned in my earlier post about the magazine ”Image” No.2), with Urado using his hands to form her face. (Marginal note: Issue 5 also features some of the photos of Urado’s rope that are included in Image No. 2, along with an article – but here, the photo-reproduction is not as good [small, black and white, non-glossy paper].)

In the double issue 10/11 there is a photo-illustrated article called ”Female seppuku mania letter”. As we shall see in an upcoming post, this as a recurring theme in a related publication from this time.

Urado Hiroshi: The Beacon (ザ・ビーコン)

”The Beacon” was a photo-magazine published only in a few issues (indeed maybe only these three). Most probably 1977–1978.

I am not sure, but to my eye, it seems it contains rope-work both by Urado Hiroshi (the images where white cotton rope is used above), and by Yamamoto Issho (山本一章 , my proposal of identifying the tying person wearing the blue striped pants).

Yamamoto (born 1927) is a historically interesting bakushi that we may well be returning to on this blog. In an interview with Akechi Denki from 2005, Osada Steve asks:

Are you completely self-taught? Did you learn rope from someone?

No one taught me. But I did become friends with Tsujimura Takashi, whose work appeared in Kitan Club in those days, and his friend Yamamoto Issho. They were based in Kansai (Osaka) but we would meet when we could and practice bondage together, and lend each other our partners.” (Source: http://www.tokyobound.com/blog/?p=114 )
