Naka Akira & Hourai Kasumi & Sugiura Norio: Itoh Seiu edition (2017)

極私的緊縛野史 蓬莱かすみ 第二弾 (伊藤晴雨編)

This is the second photo-project released by Sugiura, with Naka tying Hourai Kasumi.

This time, they have taken special inspiration from Itoh Seiu.

See my post about the first one here.

A B5-size booklet with fantastic photographs, and a 95 minutes DVD. You can see a short clip on Sugiura’s website here: http://www.sugiuranorio.tv/top/products/detail.php?product_id=1814

This is VERY powerful material, a meeting between kinbaku-masters, seeking beauty in suffering, honouring the late Itoh.

This is a limited edition publication. I was happy to get it directly from Hourai Kasumi during her workshop in Paris this Spring with her signature on the cover.

Kinoko, Hourai & Naka:  緊縛綺譚 (Kinbaku Kitan)

It is rare to find such a concentration of quality in one single publication as is the case here.

Master Kinbaku photographer Sugiura Norio has put together photos from multiple shootings with Kinoko, Hourai and Naka. Pictures capturing something like 20 models doing outstanding work is included.

Biographies of the photographer and the three bakushi are included, as well as individual picture bylines crediting the models, in English as well as Japanese. (Although in a poetic and enigmatic moment, the English bio of Hourai ends with the note: ”Text not translated from the Japanese version of Hourai’s profile above”.)

A4-size, soft-cover, 98 pages, full colour.

Naka Akira and Sugiura Norio

This series of glossy-print Photo-books in A4-format feature Sugiura Norio’s masterful photography of Kinbaku scenes. Rope-work is generally by Naka Akira. Each book comes with a full length DVD from the photo-shoots, sometimes documenting both the process of tying and the process of photography and posing.

Nao Nagasawa, Hajime Kinoko and Norio Sugiura: 極私的緊縛野史 nao

Gokushiteki Kinbaku yashi nao

This beautiful publication is a collaboration between master photographer Sugiura Norio (born 1942), the outstanding model Nao Nagasawa (born 1967), and multitalented nawashi Kinoko Hajime (born 1977).

In addition to the B5-size booklet with high quality photos, it contains a full DVD where you can see the interaction of the whole team (including Hourai Kasumi). The first 50 copies comes with an additional ”behind the scenes” DVD with comments.

Hourai Kasumi, Naka Akira, Sugiura Norio: 極私的緊縛野史 蓬莱かすみ  /  Gokushiteki Kinbaku yashi   Kasumi Hourai

This is an extraordinary publication. A collaboration between master photographer Sugiura Norio (born 1942), nawashi Naka Akira (born 1959) and nawashi Hourai Kasumi (born 1980).

I do not know of any other Japanese kinbaku-publication where a person switches, and acts both in the role of tying and in the role of being tied.

It has three elements:

* A booklet with fantastic photos by Sugiura, of Hourai tied by Naka.

* A DVD with Hourai tying  御前珠里, directed by Sugiura

* A DVD with Naka tying Hourai, directed by Sugiura

This limited edition came with an additional collector’s photo, signed by Sugiura Norio.

愛奴恋写館 (1986)

愛奴恋写館 (Aiyakko rensha-kan), Vol. 17 (1986)

Kinbaku magazine, featuring photos by Sugiura Norio.

I originally choose some of the images here, as they seem to show a very early example of the famous ”Mount Fuji”-pattern (albeit combined with an other pattern).

I discussed this possibility with Nuit de Tokyo, who rightly pointed out that the ”third” rope in the images ”is essentially a rope going around the body on the left and anchored ’haphazardly’ on the right, so it is essentially decorative in nature (while the Akechi version is deeply functional).”

Judging from the time (1986), some details in the rest of the ties, and from the context (Sugiura being the photographer), Nuit de Tokyo writes that ”Nureki Chimuo is the most probable bakushi (…) but it could be a number of other people influenced by Nureki, including Masato Marai.”

I have also included some images from the issue that puts a table to some creative uses.

悦虐写真館 (1990 and 1992)

IMG_6937 IMG_6938 IMG_6939 IMG_6940 IMG_6941 IMG_6942 IMG_6943

悦虐写真館

Two special issues of SM秘小説 (SM secret novel), called 悦虐写真館 (Etsu gyaku shashin-kan), from 1990 (vol 10) and 1992 (vol 17), both featuring photos by Sugiura Norio. The issue from 1990 also has illustrations among others by Muku Youji and Maeda Juan.

Very probable that Nureki has done at least some of the rope-work.
