耽美芸術グラフ 第一集

This white booklet is called  耽美芸術グラフ 第一集  ”Tanbi geijutsu gurafu – dai isshu” (”Aesthetic art images – first collection”) and was published in 1964. It contains both photos and sketches. According to SMpedia, it was published when the magazine Uramado was suspended. The editor is ”Yu Fujimu”, one of the pseudonyms used by Nureki, but you also see the the hands of the rest of the contributors from Uramado, such as Muku. I will dig a bit more when time allows, and return with a post about Uramado as well. As far as I understand, there was only one issue of this photo-only magazine. Shortly afterwards, the publication of ”Suspense Magazine” starts, as a successor to Uramado.

Kitan Club, special Kinbaku Photo issue, december 1970

奇譚クラブ 臨時増刊号 女体緊縛写真集

This is a special edition of Kitan Club, extra thick and printed on glossy paper, Kinbaku photos only (normally, Kitan Club would mainly be text, and only some sections of photos). Quite a few images with both extraordinary ropework, and great photography in my opinion.

Muku Youji: ”縄 Jyo” (2000)

Muku Youji: ” Jyo” (2000)

『椋陽児 縄 Jyo』

A cardboard box, containing a sturdy and large-format book with a retrospect of Muku’s artwork, some in colour, mostly in black and white. It may be reasonably assumed that most of the rope-work in the images is by Nureki. The last pages show also some of Muku’s manga.

The title combines the sign ”nawa” (rope) with ”Jyo”. I am uncertain if this in any way is related to Yukimura’s expression ”Jyowa”, that recently was used by Pedro Diniz Reis for a very interesting movie about Kinbaku (see http://www.jyowa.com ).

Limited edition, 1500 numbered copies, this is number 1227.

Yasuji Watanabe and Atasushi Sakai: Phantôme Japonais

This beautifully hardbound book is a piece of art in itself. It contains images and texts earlier published in the Japanese magazine SM Sniper (1997–2003) under the headline ”Shashin hyakumonogatari”. The texts (in French) are somewhat lyrical short stories with powerful, sometimes mythological, themes, illustrated with the scenes in the images. The photos are originally in black and white, but have been coloured in afterwards.

S&M Sniper, february issue, 2007

The magazine S&M Sniper (S&Mスナイパー) was published 1979–2009. It had a varied content, with a lot of advertisments. Among it’s features was Araki Nobuyoshi’s recurring photo-section ”Tokyo Kinbaku”. This particular issue made it to the blog because of its supplementary DVD, entitled ”Bondage Master Quintet”, featuring no less than Osada Steve, Miura Takumi, Kazami Ranki, Mira Kurumi (”MiracleEmi”) and Shima Shikou. The section with Miura Takumi shows a blend of shorter snippets from the (outstanding) 4-dvd series he did in close collaboration with Akechi Denki, as well as snippets from an earlier live-DVD. The section with Osada Steve has the English headine ”A foreigner is attractive – pure rope breaking!”, and shows some intense tying with the model Kazuki.

Nureki Chimuo: Venus Club (1994 and 1995)

Venus Club was a series of very small pocket-books with photos of relatively ”light” rope bondage published in the mid-1990s, often featuring rope by Chimuo Nureki. See for example the way a third rope is added around the waist in the two first images I have included here, going over one shoulder, around the back-friction and back over the other shoulder, finishing in a slightly asymmetrical way, adding an extra line to the right half of the lower wrap… Today, not surprisingly, something similar is often seen in Akira Naka’s ties.

お楽しみグラフ: Special issue on Itoh Seiu (1961)

Magazine with some text, but mainly images: many fold-outs, some in full colour, some in black and white + one-colour. A mixture of wood-cuts, photos and ink-sketches. Approximately one third of the material is by Itoh Seiu – the rest I guess is stuff that inspired Seiu or was inspired by Seiu. Published the year of his death (1882–1961), it looks like a hommage.
