Dan Oniroku: 猟奇の女 [Ryoki no onna, ”Bitchy Girl”]. SM Novels series No. 5

This small format paperback book is part of a series of reprints of stories by Dan Oniroku. (This particular story was first published in SM Select in January 1971.) But don’t be fooled by the modest appearance – the book also contains twenty-something high quality print colour photos of Minomura Kou‘s kinbaku from the period 1975–1980. In October 1980, Minomura fell ill, so these pictures could maybe be said to represent his ”mature” style.

Many of the readers of this blog are perhaps more familiar with Minomura’s artwork (presented under the name of ”Kita Reiko”) than with photos of his ties. Such photos can of course be seen in many magazines through the years, but very often these magazines contain no information about who has done the tying. Here, it is cleary stated, along with the years the photos were taken.

Here is a link to an earlier post about the 1953 Minomura-book ”Beautifully Bound”:

And here is a link to a conversation between Nureki and Yukimura, where they among other things talk about the shooting of the film The World of Minomura Kou: https://kinbakubooks.wordpress.com/2017/01/05/nureki-yukimura-dialogue-in-sm-spirits-1993/

Nagaike Takeshi: 妖美 japoniSMe (1995)  Editor: Dan Oniroku

This huge format hardbound book, edited by Dan Oniroku, features photos in a ”glamour” style.

Ropework is by Nagaike Takeshi, who in the same year also published two other books in the same style, see my earlier post here: https://kinbakubooks.wordpress.com/2015/01/27/1750/

Photographer: Seitaro Shimizu

Rope: Nagaike Takeshi

Models: Saori Taira, Emi Sugita, Miki Sho & Mayu Tsukasa

Publisher: ワニマガジン社, 1995 (There is also a second edition of the same book, from the year 2000, with a red cover.)

ISBN 4-89829-235-6

PS As I mentioned in the earlier post, Zetsu did a thorough write-up about Nagaike Takeshi’s stay in the US, and his collaboration with Ernest Greene. They also did two movies together, one set in the USA (”Bondage of the Rising Sun”), and one set in Tokyo, Japan (”Rope of the Rising Sun”). As far as I know, they were only released on VHS and have never been digitalized. I recently got my hands on the film set in Japan (images below). The movie is from 1997, and features in addition to Nakaike, ”the world-renowned domina Midori (in her first-ever video performance)” and the models Jill Kelly and Randi Rage.

A quote from Zetsu’s interview with the photographer Ken Marcus: ”Until I had worked with Takeshi, I was under the impression that Japanese Kinbaku had to be a structured and traditional ritual art form. What I learned during my week of watching Takeshi was how interpretive and free-form rope can be. He would incorporate the environment, utilize furniture and ordinary objects into his rope/human compositions.” Source: http://www.kinbakutoday.com/americas-first-japanese-bakushi/

As I have recently learned from Master K, the bakushi for book 3 is Urado Hiroshi. You can read more about him in a blogpost on Kinbaku Today:

Four thick bondage photo-compilations (”Flowers from hell”), edited by Dan Oniruko. I understand there is also a book 5. The first book has mostly images of bondage using metal chains and rubber straps, book 2–4 only rope.

If anyone knows who did the rope-work, I would be happy to hear from you.

This is a collection of photos and illustrations edited by Dan Oniroku in 1996. The contents are quite varied – Kinichi Tanaka’s photos of Kate Asabuki, tied by Akechi Denki, stands out. Most of Tanaka’s photos are taken from the book ”Pleasure and a little pain” that was published the year before – one, however is from the same photo-shoot but not included in the earlier book.
As a curiosity, it can be mentioned that the book also features photos taken by the American photographer Ken Marcus, who the same year (1996) also published a photo-book with bondage-photos in Japan called ”California Club”. (And in 2009, he took the pictures for the Two Knotty Boys ”Back on the Ropes”…)
