秘蔵版 風俗草紙 – Hizo-ban fuzoku soshi (1953)

In december 1953, the short-lived magazine 風俗草紙 (Fuzoku soshi) made a special ”treasured edition” (秘蔵版) in larger format, and 330 pages thick, opening with an 80-page better quality-paper rope-section with photos and illustrations by, among others Kita Reiko (aka Minomura Kou) who had just quit Kitan Club magazine.

愛奴恋虐 (1989)

An issue of a full-colour, images only, pocket-size Kinbaku-magazine from 1989. I am uncertain about how it relates to Sugiura Norio’s magazine 愛奴恋写館. お楽しみグラフ: Special issue on Itoh Seiu (1961)

Magazine with some text, but mainly images: many fold-outs, some in full colour, some in black and white + one-colour. A mixture of wood-cuts, photos and ink-sketches. Approximately one third of the material is by Itoh Seiu – the rest I guess is stuff that inspired Seiu or was inspired by Seiu. Published the year of his death (1882–1961), it looks like a hommage.

A friend in Japan helped me get hold of a box of old issues of ”Kinbiken communications”. They contain mainly text and catalogues over Kinbiken-video clips with small photos in black and white – but many of the photos are fantastic, and all of the issues have some real gems inside. The later issues (with black covers, i.e. no 18 and 19) have a larger section of photos.

This pocket-size photo-book has quite a few images with creative uses of furniture…

I have found very little information about this publication, it seems only a few issues were published in 1971-1972. As always – if you have more information, I would be happy to hear from you.
